Asolutely stunning and possibly unique screen or room divider made by unknown designer or manufacturer. It’s made in a style similar to designs by Alessandro Mendini. The divider brings the lively vibe of the 80s with its four disco dancing figures. It is of great quality. The divider is painted in cool blue and sea blue colours with a high gloss finish, which makes it look even better. When you’re not using it, you can easily fold it up and put it away. This piece is a perfect example of the Memphis period, known for its unique and bold designs.

Memphis Design, born in the early 1980s in Milan, challenged design norms with its fearless mix of styles. Super rare adjustable so called ‘TGV’ table designed by Pierre Chapo and made in one of his own workshops in France in the 1970s. The top is made up of six elements that are cleverly connected with clips, allowing for three different arrangements and lengths. This table is a geometric wonder, it extends along the diagonal, offering flexible seating options and as it extends the table width decreases. Made from the warmth of elm wood, this oval table can be customized with one or two extensions, reaching a maximum length of 225 cm.

The design of this table is a result of mathematical research and draws inspiration from Nordic shipbuilding methods. The cylindrical slat feet pay tribute to a time when creating rounded wood pieces was an art form in itself. In excellent original condition.

The work of Chapo combines ancient woodworking skill and tradition with a contemporary approach. In designing his distinguished pieces, Solid oak, elm, teak, and ash were mainly used. He received a gold medal from the city of Paris as a token of appreciation for his contributions to the city. Pierre Chapo is for sure one of the best designers from French soil, clearly to be seen at his architectural designs and craftsmanship.

We captured these architectural brutalist beauties during our trip to Paris last week. 🍂

Les Choux de Créteil is an architectural project located in the Paris suburb of Créteil consisting of ten cylindrical buildings each 15 stories tall completed in 1974. Designed by architect Gérard Grandval, the buildings are recognized as a “Heritage of the 20th Century” by the French Ministry of Culture.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The project is nicknamed “Les Choux” (the cabbages) due to the distinctive shape of its balconies. The unique design features curved balconies, intended to provide functional benefits by placing living spaces closer to windows while offering outdoor access and privacy with 2-meter-tall balconies. Originally, the balconies were meant to be decorated with ornamental plants and small trees, creating a dynamic appearance throughout the seasons, although this aspect of the project was never realized.

Initiated in 1966, the project was built on an area historically used for vegetable production for Parisian tables. The design possibly reflects this agricultural history. In 1998, the municipality decided to upgrade the area, rebuilding the central sprout and allocating a portion of the apartments to students to encourage social integration. Overall, Les Choux de Créteil is considered a symbol of 1970s French architecture.

Nice pair of coffee tables by Gulio Lazzotti and manufactured by Megeia, italy 1979. The base consists of four marble columns with beautiful cut lining. Three black and one white. Two black columns are shaped like half a cylinder. The other two are two cylinders with a diameter which perfectly fits in the half parts, a nice visual detail. The bases can be put in a playful position to your wishes. The large square tops are from thick glass. The tables are in excellent condition. Priced and sold in a set of 2.

This Postmodern design resembles the relationship between ancient masonry skills and applying these traditions in modern forms. Like some other Italian designers, Lazzotti in particular has an innovative approach towards experimenting with form, especially in stone and marble, and applying these mainly into tables. Giulio Lazzotti is an Italian designer and architect who has always given an important place to objects’s sculptural dimension. A great lover of marble, his work is modern, reconciliating a sense of craftsmanship with industrial production. Often hired as a consultant for his experience, Giulio shares his attention to detail throughout the world and collaborates with major furniture brands.

Rare dog lamp designed by Jean Boris Lacroix and manufactured by Disderot in France in 1950. Extra special due to its rubber feet and a plastic collar, which are often missing in similar lamps. The folded metal dog has a red body, black ears, and a white nose. It has a fun, minimalistic and playful design, resembling a dachshund, which gives it a lot of character. In fully original condition with age related wear.

Jean-Boris Lacroix was born in 1902 and began his career when he was just 18, working with Paul Dumas. Later, he became the artistic director at the famous Vionnet haute-couture house from 1924 to 1937. During this time, he met important people like J.M Frank, Pierre Chareau, and Jean Dunand.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lacroix also made his own furniture, using glass and metal, and he showed it at the 1927 Fair of Artists Decorators. However, what got the most attention was his lamps. What made Lacroix special was that he was one of the first to use acrylic in his lamp designs in the 1930s. His style was all about very precise shapes, straight lines, sharp corners, and smooth surfaces. Even after he passed away in 1984, his unique designs continue to be admired and inspire people who love art and design.

Rare facade element by Jean Prouve, designed for the André-Argouges high school, Grenoble France 1965. Made of enamelled metal with isolation inside. All the façades for this building were built from three panel models: one with fixed glazing, one with an opening window (sliding) and the third, like this one, solid. These three interchangeable panels are fixed to the façade mullions of various buildings according to interior requirements. This results on the one hand, in great unity if one module is used, on the other hand, in interesting variety of rhythm and colour achieved by arranging the panels.

Technically, the glazed panels are made of drawn aluminium sections: the solid panels have an external facing of steel, kiln-lacquered or enamelled, internal insulation, and an internal facing of wood. Highly decorative, we also have one available in grey.

Wonderful largest version of the B17 bookcases, the B17C designed by Pierre Chapo and made in one of his own workshops in France, 1967. This magnificent bookcase is constructed from sturdy solid elm, showing a beautiful original patina and stunning wood grain. It’s ingeniously engineered for easy wall mounting, requiring just a handful of nuts, bolts, and interlocking wooden pegs.

In 1967, Pierre Chapo presented new creations at the Salon des Arts Ménagers, exhibiting the B17 bookshelf for the first time. The B17 is fixed to the wall, freeing up considerable floor space. The bookshelf, whose presence surprises by its discretion and elegance, comes in several versions of differing lengths and heights. The harmony of the lines between the uprights and the shelves is accentuated by the originality of the support system. Supports, as their name implies, normally prop up the shelves of a piece of furniture or else the jutting parts of buildings. Pierre Chapo decided not to take this universal law into account and modeled a support that fits into the upright, which means the shelf can be solidly fixed under its support. In a balance between gravity and the forces at play, the more weight goes on the shelf, the better its components slot into the upright.

The perfect Saturday evening dinner set ✨.

Rare set of 6 original Superleggera (super light) chairs designed by Gio Ponti and manufactured by Cassina in Italy in 1957. The 699 Superleggera, which has been a star in Cassina’s collection since 1957, is an incredible chair designed by architect Gio Ponti. It’s a true icon that combines modern style with traditional craftsmanship. The chair is super light, and the skilled MedaMade craftsmen achieved this by making the legs very thin, only 18 millimeters across, and the whole chair weighs just 1,700 grams.

The frame of the chair is made from ashwood, which is light and flexible, while the seat’s surround is hand-woven cane, which is sturdy. This chair is a perfect blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation, inspired by chair-making traditions from Chiavari in northern Italy. These chairs in this version are in their purest form, with their black painted ash wooden frames and cane handwoven seats. A beautiful detail is their triangle shaped feet. A set of 6 in this amazing condition is hard to find.

Exceptional pair of Model 2061 wall lamps designed

Exceptional pair of Model 2061 wall lamps designed by Gaetano Sciolari and produced by Stilnovo in Italy in 1954. These are the rare first productions made from brass, featuring a different wall plate. They’re in fully original condition and still bear the original Stilnovo sticker inside the shades. What makes these lamps unique is their adjustable design. You can change their length using the weight on the table and the in length adjustable arm which also pivots. Finding a pair of these lamps is a rarity. They are however individually priced and sold.

Sciolari was born in 1927. After graduating with a degree in architecture, he began training as a film director. When his father died unexpectedly in 1949, he returned home to run the family business, Sciolari Lighting, which was originally founded in 1892. In the 1950s, Sciolari became the in-house designer for legendary lighting manufacturer Stilnovo—founded by designer Bruno Gatta in Milan in 1946. In the postwar era, many Italian design companies, Stilnovo in particular, were attracting international acclaim for their experimentation with new materials and streamlined silhouettes. Stilnovo, alongside Arteluce and Arredoluce, was among the top Italian light manufacturers, known for their exceptional craftsmanship and design excellence.
