This is for a very nice industrial so called ‘Panama’ wall lamp designed by Wim Rietveld, and manufactured by Gispen Culemborg, the Netherlands 1955. Wim Rietveld was the son of famous architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld, and they also did some projects together. Wim Rietveld was an industrial designer and a very good one, with the genes of his father he had a clear view on how he could design very smart with as less as possible. Industrial pieces for mass production, as far as that was possible at the time. The so called ‘Panama’ lamp or model no. 4050 was one of his most recognizable industrial designs. Existing in 4 versions, a ceiling pendant, wall lamp, table lamp and floor lamp, all with the same shade, almost like a modular piece. The specific wall lamp has a very nice and original red finished shade. The lamp comes with its original diffuser which blocks the direct light, so you don’t look into that. The diffuser is missing on 99 of 100 lamps, this is practically a museum piece on its own. The diffuser is attached on the inside of the shade with 3 small metal hooks. The lamp is in its fully original finish and even the hardware is still original and excellent. Lamp can be easily adjusted in every wanted position using the red key on the wall plate. This ingenious system is unique in any way, it is a super strong technique which allows the lamp to even hang completely horizontal if wanted. The shade can also be pointed up if wanted and the arm swivels, makes it possible to use this lamp in many different ways. Easy to wall hang and adjust to you desired position. We have this lamp also available with white, yellow or brown shade, inquire for our other options. Lamp uses an E27 bulb up to 60 watt and can also be used with dimmer or LED lamp.
This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA.
