Warren Platner Knoll international dining table USA 1973

Modern dining table designed by Warren Platner and manufactured by Knoll international in the USA in 1973. This round table stands on a chrome base formed by three circular columns seamlessly transitioning into three tapered feet. The oak top paired with leather creates a striking blend of textures and materials, offering a visually pleasing contrast. While the chrome base shows signs of use, it adds character to the piece. The black leather top has an appealing original patina, giving it a distinct appearance. The table’s beauty lies in its elegant simplicity and bold shapes and the use of high-quality materials come together harmoniously. The leather and chrome feet have some wear from age and usage but this adds charactar to an original piece as this.

Warren Platner studied architecture at Cornell University. Following his work with legendary designers Raymond Loewy, Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei, he immersed himself in the creation of steel wire furniture, devising the method and tooling to produce the lounge chair in the line as well. Notable among his residential and commercial projects are the Georg Jensen Design Center and the Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Center, both in New York City.
