Striking set of 6 superleggera (lightweight) chairs made by unknown maker or designer in Italy, 1960. The chairs have a light weight structure in solid beeck wood and is black ebonized. The chairs have a very unusual but beautiful woven rattan seat. Although we didnt figure out yet who made these chairs, you can see that these are made by someone with a lot of care. They look very simple at first sight but when you look at the little details you will find a nice construction, slightly tapered feet and bent crossbars. They are remiscent to the super leggera chairs by Gio Ponti in some ways as well. They are very sturdy and light at the same time, making them easy to use. The contrast of the Black ebonized frames and cane seats is truly amazing. The chairs are in very good condition without any damages to the seats, one of the seats has gotten slightly darker over time but all seats have a nice patina and adds a lot of character to the set. These chairs would look amazing in any interior nowadays as they have a very timeless appearance. They are priced and sold in a set of 6.
