Amazing pair of lounge chairs Boedha (Buddha) designed by Sonja Wasseur and produced in her own workshop, Holland 1974. Sonja Wasseur started designing furniture in 1970 after she had worked for several furniture makers as designer, she wanted to do something else, make special furniture. And she succeeded. She made furniture in very small productions as she was not the person who wanted to design a dozen of chairs. She wanted to renew, improve and inspire. In her work is clearly visible which way she walked trough her designs, what was possible, one idea after another. These Buddha chairs I had never seen before, probably only a handful of these were made. Designed in the early 70s and made of solid oak wood, dark brown stained. The seats and backs are finished with leather, superbly stitched at the back with a metal structure inside. For me these chairs were her masterpiece. Everything she learned over the years comes back in these chairs. The chairs are in fantastic original condition with normal wear from age and usage. The chairs are priced and sold in a set of 2.
