Striking sculptural coffee table made by unknown artist in Italy in the 1960s. The table has an incredible organic sculptural base made from concrete blended with tiny metal parts which creates a fascinating rusting effect, the concrete drying process slowly start oxidising the metal and results in a unique warm brown-grey mix of colours. Over time, the table has developed minor cracks in its structure, but the inner metal framework ensures these cracks don’t compromise the table’s strength.
The table seems to almost float with its small metal feet, adding a touch of lightness to its elegant sculptured base. On the base sits an oval glass top which is slightly bended outwards for a nice soft effect. Due to the glass and its transparency you’ll see the organic shape from all angles the best way possible, making it almost an art-piece in your interior.
The table is obviously inspired by the works of Henri Moore as it is very similar from the style and execution to some of the sculpture Moore made. Although they were usually in bronze. Unfortunately we cannot find the talented artist who made this extraordinary piece but you can see that it is made by a skilled sculptor.
Very good, minimal cracks in the structure
