Raoul Guys attr dining chairs Airborne France 1950

Fantastic set of 6 dining chairs attributed to Raoul Guys, manufactured by Airborne France 1950. These amazing chairs have a solid steel frame which is black painted. The frames have a very unique and characteristic shape. Because the frames are in solid steel, the chairs are very strong and heavy made. The handle at the top of the back part makes them easy to move around with only 1 hand, this is not only a nice detail from an aesthetic point of view, but also very practical. The wicker finished seats, backs and grips have very nice wicker work. The combination of the wicker and black metal is typical for the period. We didn’t find these exact chairs as a published design by Raoul Guys but there are similar tables with the same structure from the metal. The frames are handmade so they are not all 100% identical, minor differences are there, but this shows it was heavy and skilled hand labour and not mass production. We fully restored the chairs as they were white repainted, but they are back in their former glory and up for plenty more years of use. Priced and sold in a set of 6.
