This rare table lamp, originally designed by the renowned Italian designer Pietro Chiesa in 1939 and later manufactured by Fontana Arte in the 1960s, is a true collector’s piece that reflects the elegance and innovation of mid-century Italian design. Chiesa, known for his refined aesthetic and mastery of glass, collaborated closely with Fontana Arte, one of Italy’s most prestigious lighting and glass manufacturers. This particular lamp is a beautiful example of his work and the brand’s craftsmanship.
The lamp showcases a sophisticated combination of materials that highlight its luxurious appearance. The base features Fontana Arte’s signature transparent glass, giving it a distinctive lightness and clarity. This is beautifully contrasted by a white bent glass shade that softly diffuses light, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. Accentuated by brass elements, the lamp achieves a perfect balance of opulence and modern simplicity. The brass, now bearing a graceful patina, enriches its vintage charm and adds character to the overall design.
Functionally, the lamp includes an elegant adjustment feature, a subtle handle with a thickened knob on the left side, allowing the user to direct the light as needed. In superb condition, with undamaged glass and aged brass, this table lamp is both decorative and functional, representing timeless Italian design at its finest.
This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is also suitable for use in the USA as is. For US usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it.
