France, 1927 – 2009
Nice minimalistic pair of model 442 lounge chairs designed by Pierre Paulin and manufactured by Artifort, The Netherlands 1962. This is for a pair of lounge chairs model 442 which is a set of chairs in quality black leather and matt chrome plated steel legs. The solid steel legs have a slim appearance which looks very classy and minimalistic at the same time. The legs appear to run through the upholstered body which is a beautiful detail in the aesthetics of this design. The black leather upholstery has an amazing patina with any noticeable wear, it is still very strong and smooth. The feather padded cushions have some fixed buttons which give them a tufted look and keeps the filling in place. This nice modernist pair of lounge chairs would look great in any modern home, office or interior. Super quality modernist pair by Pierre Paulin who is one of the most sought-after designers from France in the mid-20th century. A very nice and subtle design by Paulin in original condition of the black leather. The chairs are still signed with the aluminium label by Artifort which is tagged underneath the sofa where it belongs. The chairs were part of a set with a lounge sofa which is available in another listing. Priced and sold in a set of 2 chairs.
Leather is reconditioned with a leather care product special for vintage leather.
