One off coffee table designed by Paul Kingma and manufactured in his own atelier, Netherlands 1978. The tabletop has beautiful features like the orange/red square tile pieces or the brass sun-shaped circle that add a nice contrast, especially against the darker stone. These are tables you can keep staring at, and every time you do, you notice something new. It’s like a piece of art with all the colour hues like orange, green and rust-brown, but there are a lot more. There’s a brass “Kingma” tag on the top of the tabletop. For the base two black metal folded structures form its stability, a simple but very clever idea where the strength of the minimal use of materials comes from the simple folding of the metal.
Kingma’s love for nature shines through in this table. He traveled extensively to collect unique materials like stone, metal, concrete, brass, copper, glass, and ceramic. Each table is a one-of-a-kind piece, handcrafted with great care and precision, showcasing Kingma’s dedication to creating extraordinary furniture that connects with the beauty of the natural world. Born in The Hague, Paul Kingma studied art in Arnhem before training at the Rijks Akademie [State Academy of Fine Arts] in Amsterdam and the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Over the course of his career, he was commissioned to create several sculptures for public spaces in Dutch cities such as Utrecht, Eindhoven, & Amersfoort.
