Paul Kingma coffee table square large Netherlands 1972

Stunning large square coffee table designed by Paul Kingma and made in his own atelier near The Hague, The Netherlands 1972. This table is among his early works. He started making these tables alongside Rien Goené during the late 1950s. While Goené focused on sculpting, Kingma became famous for his mosaic tables, which he continued making until the late 90s.

This table reflects Kingma’s love for nature. He traveled extensively to collect rare materials like stone, metal, concrete, brass, copper, glass, and ceramic. Each table is unique, handcrafted with precision and care. This table has super nice abstract elements with a beautiful hue, combining green, red, brown and lighter natural tones. The top is signed with the known brass rectangle with “Kingma” engrave. The top rests on a square tubular metal frame which is black painted. Kingma’s artistry also extended to creating sculptures for public spaces. His mosaic tables became very popular in the 1970s and 1980s where brutalist built homes and interiors emerged. Since this style is popular again, they still are a perfect fit for modern homes and interiors.
