A rare opportunity to acquire an exceptional pair of mid-century wall lamps designed by the acclaimed Oscar Torlasco and manufactured by Lumi, Italy in 1955. These unique sculptural lights are a true testament to the Italian avant-garde aesthetic of the postwar design era.
Each piece centers around a striking, cloud-shaped backplate finished in its original off-white lacquered aluminum; an organic form that anchors the composition with quiet strength. From this poetic base extend three asymmetrical brass arms, evocative of natural growth, like branches unfurling from a tree or tendrils from a vine. Each arm bears two spherical off-white shades, with exposed bulbs encircled by delicate brass halo rings; a nod to the Sputnik influence that captivated designers of the era. The interplay between biomorphic fluidity and cosmic geometry makes these lamps an extraordinary fusion of nature and futurism.
Maintained in their original condition, the lamps exhibit subtle patina and gentle signs of age, deliberately preserved to retain their authenticity and provenance. When lit, they cast an atmospheric, multidirectional glow, enriching any interior with both warmth and sculptural presence.
An exceptionally rare find, these lamps are offered exclusively as a set of two. Ideal for collectors of 20th-century design, or for architects and designers seeking rare statement pieces with historical significance and artistic impact.
These lamps are checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is also suitable for use in the USA as is.
