Rare “David” lounge chair designed by Odile Mir and produced by Delmas for Prisunic in France, 1972. Beautiful geometric chrome plated tubular frame with on the back corners metal springs to support the sling seat which is a cowhide. Every corner of the frame points upwards. The back is the highest point and also has a metal spring. Typical innovative and minimalistic design from the seventies. The cowhide sling seat has a strong appearance due to the contrast of the white against the brown hide. From each corner this chair is a stunning piece of design, from the architectural structure to the form. This chair was part of the “Filo” collection. Still in really good condition.
Odile Mir is a self-taught and recognized sculptor when she is noticed by the world of industry. This is how her career as a designer for the manufacturer Delmas began. From her singular sculptures evoking the female body, she will keep the avant-garde aesthetic and her taste for the use of raw materials, such as steel, leather and textile, in the elaboration of her collection of lights and furniture. Her creations mark a turning point in the history of 20th century French furniture. Simple, durable and comfortable. Her design is nonetheless inventive and aesthetically pleasing.
