Moveis Bertomeu lounge chairs pair Brazil 1960

Exceptional shaped lounge chairs with sculptural ribbed shaped backs. Beautiful and elegant hardwood veneered structure with round wooden feet. A nice detail are de rounded corners. The most stunning feature of these chairs are the backs. With the sculptural ribbed structure it is a one of a kind design. The ribs are held together by a horizontal aluminium stem which is placed in the middle. The ribs are subtly tapered. The cushions are newly upholstered in a soft neutral linen fabric which is padded giving extra comfort to the seats. The armrests are separate from the seat and back and are nicely shaped, slightly leaning over the side of the structure. This design has a clear influence by the designs from Jorge Zalszupin from  the same period. Movies Bertomeu was one of the smaller carpenters in Brazil in the sixties.
