Iconic Bambole lounge chair and poof designed by Mario Bellini and manufactured by B&B Italia in 1972. The Le Bambole collection marked a breakthrough in exploring the artistic possibilities of stuffed furniture. The lounge chair, along with other pieces like the armchair, sofa, daybed, chaise longue, and bed, showcases a minimalist and independent design. The concept behind Le Bambole revolves around the idea of reducing the sofa to its essential form – a cushion. Just like dressmaking, the precise geometry of stitches and covers defines the chair’s shape. Its distinctive appearance made it a part of a controversial publicity campaign created by photographer Oliver Toscani.
Le Bambole’s structure includes a lightweight tubular steel frame, cleverly concealed, surrounded by flexible polyurethane foam. This ingenious combination ensures the chair retains its shape and offers maximum comfort during use. This chair has been fully reupholstered in a lovely coloured bouclé fabric, adding a touch of elegance and comfort. The chair is stamped with the B&B Italia logo and number on the bottom, and it features the B&B label on the front.
