Manlio Mangano wooden wall panel Italy 1970

Very nice brutalist wall panel made by Manlio Mangano, made in his own atelier in Verona, Italy 1970. This beautiful abstract modern wall panel is made of spruce wood parts. They are hand sawn and the use of different colors, gives the panel an extra dimension. The title of this panel is; Omaggio a Ben Nicholson. (tribute to Ben Nicholson). Ben Nicholson was an English painter of abstract compositions (sometimes in low relief), landscape and still-life. Most probably this artis was inspired by Nicholson, thats why he made this amazing tribute. The piece is very nice large in size and its very brutal made, but easthetically it all works perfect. The wooden panels are connected with iron nails, which are partly visible. But they appear to be a part of the work, rather than being a necessity. The work is easy to wall hang. It is signed with a sticker on the front side and there is a paper label from the artis at the back. The work is in the manner of Gruppo NP2 by Nerone and Patuzzi, but it is more rougly made which has also a very nice and unique appearance.
