Beautiful pair of sixties so called ‘Lugano’ floor lamps designed by H. Klingele and manufactured by Artimeta Soest, Holland 1957. Artimeta was founded by Floris H. Fiedeldij in the end of the 1950s and it was a small Dutch company which produced luxury lighting and furniture. Since the company was not that big, most pieces were made in house and hand made. This floor lamp pair has a black painted tripod frame with very nice decorative flat feet. A lot of lights, as these floor lamps, were inspired by the Sputnik program which launched in the end of the 1950s. These spaceships inspired a lot of designers in that period and this style was very popular during that time. Many designers made their own variations on the Sputnik spaceship. You can see these lamps are also based on that program. With a similar tripod frame, with 2 flat hammered feet for more stability. The shade is made of sprayed fiberglass, same used as the lamps by Achille Castiglioni for Flos and George Nelson for example. This lamp uses 4x E27 bulbs for very nice and decorative warm light. The lamps are in good original condition, with minor wear to the shades from age, caused by shrinking and expanding over time. This is for a very nice and matching pair of 2 lamps, but they are priced and sold individually.
These lamps are checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA. For US usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it. Feel free to inquire for options.
