Louis Vuitton damier steamer trunk France 1910 – 1914

Rare and early iconic ‘Damier’ trunk manufactured by Louis Vuitton, France 1910-1914. The trunks by Louis Vuitton are highly collected all over the world. Louis Vuitton started making these trunks end of the 1800s. This so called ‘Damier’ trunk is the first model that was made with a pattern on the canvas. The first trunks were made of leather and linen. This trunk is made of stenciled canvas with the famous Damier print. With details, handles, corners and nails in brass. Most parts are marked with LV or Louis Vuitton. The inside is made of linen upholstery, tufted inside the trunks top with purple lint. The trunk is in fantastic original, fully authentic condition, untouched. As we like it like this. Cleaning and restoration is possible but it will loose all its character and age if you do that. The trunk has a fantastic patina from age and many years of travel usage. With nice original parts of travel stickers and the initials of the first owner who could not been identified at the Louis Vuitton flagship store in Paris; H.P. They however confirmed the authenticity of the trunk and dated it between 1910 and 1914. Have a close look at the pictures for all the details of the condition.
