Super rare sculptural lounge chairs designed and made by Liceu de Artes e Oficios, Brazil 1955. The chairs have elegant lines and awesome woodworking details. The feet are slightly angled and made of solid rosewood showing off a fantastic grain and small carved circles that give an Art Deco appearance. A nice detail is that the front legs’ fronts point outward. They’ve been reupholstered in a premium light sand-colored velvet which is close to the original. The backrest is nicely padded with two visible pipings and the seat is a thick foam cushion for ultimate comfort. The armrests seem to hang over the structure and are angled up. Fantastic elegant pair of lounge chairs giving the vibe of the fifties right away. The lounge sofa is not included in this listing but can be purchased here.
Liceu de Artes e Oficios, a multifaceted institution that promotes Brazilian culture and design. The design of these chairs is influenced by Brazilian modernism, which often draws from natural forms and the country’s rich natural surroundings.
