Presenting a fantastic and rare set of six T-armchairs designed by William Katavolos, Ross Littell, and Douglas Kelley, and manufactured by ICF De Padova, Italy, in 1952. This is the coveted armchair version of the renowned T-chair, originally created by this iconic American trio. Featuring sleek chrome-plated solid tubular metal frames and a black painted connection bar, these chairs are a stunning example of mid-century modern design. The seats hang gracefully within the solid metal structure, offering a unique floating effect that has become a signature feature of the design.
The chairs have been meticulously reupholstered in natural leather, following the original design. The leather is firm and durable, while its rich texture complements the clean lines of the chairs. The natural leather harmoniously pairs with the chair, enhancing the overall aesthetic and adding a touch of warmth to the minimalist frame. And also look playful together with the 6 chairs in original cognac we have available too. Unlike the more common T-chairs without arms, this armchair version boasts a curvier and more elegant shaped frame, making it an even rarer and more refined find.
In excellent condition, these chairs are not only visually striking but also exceptionally comfortable, making them perfect for use as dining chairs. Their modern appearance ensures they can seamlessly integrate into any contemporary interior, adding sophistication and style to a variety of settings. While this listing is for a set of six chairs, a total of twelve are available, as shown in the pictures. This rare set is a valuable addition to any design collection or modern home.
In 1952, William Katavolos, Douglas Kelley, and Ross Littell, all graduates of The Pratt Institute in New York, began a collaborative six-year period designing textiles, dinnerware, and furniture for Laverne, a company founded in 1938. Their most famous creation, the T-chair, remains a celebrated design in modern furniture history. In fact, the T-chair is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, symbolizing its enduring impact and importance in the world of design.
