Fantastic and rare set of 6 so called ‘T-armchairs’ designed by William Katavolos, Ross Littell and Douglas Kelley, and manufactured by ICF De Padova Italy 1952. This is the rare armchair version of the famous T-chair designed by this American trio of designers. The chairs have chrome plated solid tubular metal frames with a black painted connection bar. These chairs have their fantastic original patinated natural leather seats which hangs in the solid metal structure. The leather is still strong and firm and looks great with a lot of character on the cognac leather. Different from the normal and minimalistic shaped T-chairs, these chairs have a curvier and more elegant, shaped frame. Very nice and hard to find set of 6 chairs in this excellent and original condition. Comfortable set of dining chairs and because of their modern appearance they are easy to adapt in any modern home or interior. Priced and sold in a set of 6.
In 1952 William Katavolos, Douglas Kelley and Ross Littell, graduates of The Pratt Institute in New York embarked on a six-year collaboration in designing textiles, dinnerware and furniture at Laverne which was established in 1938. One of their most popular designs was the T-chair. The chair is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Leather is reconditioned with a leather care product special for vintage leather to preserve its quality and original look.
