Early model of the ‘Veranda’ lounge armchair designed by Jorge Zalszupin and manufactured by his own company L’Atelier, Brazil 1959. The Veranda chair was created in Zalszupins search for new possibilities between different materials. A sleek design that reminds of campaign or safari chairs, that became fashion during the Mid-Century period. Zalszupin created a reinterpretation but in a more stylish way, which suited the typical Brazilian modernist style. The solid rosewood frame has a subtle undertone and offers support to the luscious hanging leather armrests, a wide fixed seat offers great comfort, the backrest can be adjusted to the desired position. Striking cross stitching on the seat, which was fixed with typical brass, characteristic features in the designs by Zalszupin. The rosewood frame is in fantastic condition and the camel coloured leather has a striking patina from age and usage. The patina to the leather gives this chair a lot of character, without that it would be a boring chair. The leather has no holes or cracks.
