Beautiful shaped so-called ‘Romana’ coffee table designed by Jorge Zalszupin and manufactured by his own company L’Atelier, Brazil 1959. The Romana coffee table is a minimalist expression of materials that in the form and order they are being combined, seem to defy the concept of what is heavy or light. 2 Slightly inward curved and moulded Jacaranda rosewood pieces create a stable set of legs, that are connected to nothing more than a travertine slab with four distinctive brass fixtures. The legs have been refinished and are in excellent condition where the travertine is still in original condition and still looks amazing. The travertine has beautiful veins running through the stone which makes the rosewood and stone contrast in a beautiful way. The legs are stamped with numbers as was often the case with pieces produced by L’Atelier. And a part of the L’Atelier label is still visible on the underside of the top. A fantastic large sized coffee table in stunning condition.
