A very rare and original ‘Limestone’ coffee table designed by Jorge Zalszupin and manufactured by his own company L’Atelier, Brazil 1959. A mixture of contrasting materials is something Jorge liked to play with, especially with wood. On this coffee table, cut-outs in the shape of the wooden legs have been made in the limestone top. In order to secure the feet, the cut-outs have been made a fraction smaller than the feet so there is an edge to support the top, without compromising on the whole. The rosewood inlayed cut outs are a beautiful feature in this tables design. It makes this table unique and unlike any other designs that were made during that time. A very progressive and quirky design in Zalszupin’s Oeuvre. The feet are very nicely shaped and covered with beautiful toned, rosewood veneer. The limestone top is still the original and has a professional repair which can be seen on one of the last pictures of the corners. The table still has a part of its original L’Atelier label on the bottom.
