Rare set of 5 so called ‘Jockey’ dining chairs designed by recently passed away Jorge Zalszupin and manufactured by L’Atelier, Brazil 1959. These chairs are structured in jacaranda rosewood, and have a seat and backrest in stretched natural buffalo leather, stitched freely around the frame structures. The locking of the legs is fixed and emphasized through details that are visible in the peice. A strong tendency in furniture design is to keep joints and slot fittings practically imperceptible, however some designers make their construction process explicit, as juntas, revealing the components of the furniture, lending a destinctive character to their appearance. In the Zalszupin book you will see that this chair was documented there as a prototype, this however was prpduced in small numbers and is very hard to find. Priced and sold in a set of 5. Possibillity to buy 1 single chair as well.
