Large sized desk from the componivel series designed by Jorge Zalszupin and manufactured at his own company L’Atelier, Brazil 1959. The Escrivaninha or desk is a very sophisticated design, with a minimal appeal. The framing runs on the outside and give a secured feel, but where the points meet the cabinets however, it looks to be floating due to small rods of steel hardware. Leather is mixed with signature Jacaranda Rosewood veneer on its surfaces. The framework itself consists of solid wood. Like other design principles applied by Zalszupin in his furniture, office furniture and desks in particular were modular designs that could adapt to the needs of its user. Multiple storage solutions and integrated finishes that were available upon request. This particular desk has a rosewood backpiece, but other options such as felt or fabric and leather were also amongst the possibilities. This is the nicest version and also the most expensive one to make at the time. The desk is fully refinished but we maintained the old and original light toned rosewood colour on the desk. On the right there is a storage unit with 4 drawers for plenty of storage opportunities. The drawers are finished with the typical leather handles which were used in other designs as well.
