Jorge Zalszupin Andorinha coffee table L’Atelier Brazil 1959

The Andorinha coffee table, designed by Jorge Zalszupin and produced by L’Atelier in 1959, is an exceptional example of mid-century Brazilian design. Inspired by origami and folded paper structures, the table showcases Zalszupin’s architectural sensibility and innovative use of materials. During the design process, he collaborated with architect Julio Roberto Katinsky, who had been involved with L’Atelier since its inception.

Although the table has a square shape, its folded sides create an illusion of movement, making it appear lighter and more sculptural. The open spaces between the legs add to this airy effect, while the jacaranda rosewood-veneered plywood top ensures a rich and striking presence in any interior.
