Striking pair of armchairs designed and by Jorge Jabour Mauad and manufactured by Furnas, Brazil 1960. These lounge chairs made by Furnas have a beautiful patina and are in a very good, restored condition, no significant signs of heavy usage or wear can be found anymore. The joinery is very well made and solid. The frames are made of solid jacaranda with striking veins running through the sculptural woodwork. They have a very nice organic shaped frame and comfortable seat. The natural leather upholstered seats are in stunning condition and have a nice patina from usage, and they really compliment the frame. Since pieces by Furnas were made in small series, these models are quite hard to come across, especially a pair in this condition. A rare change to obtain and invest in a well-kept surviving set from the golden era of Brazilian design. These chairs are sold and priced in a set of 2.
