This exceptional floor lamp is a masterpiece of modernist design by renowned French designer Jacques Adnet, crafted in his atelier in the 1950s. A striking example of Adnet’s signature style, the lamp is wrapped in luxurious bordeaux leather with exquisite hand-stitched detailing, showcasing his pioneering use of leather in furniture design. The lamp’s form is as functional as it is artistic. The round central pole is elegantly complemented by a tripod base with bent, flat metal feet, giving it a distinctive and balanced silhouette. The original bordeaux red leather wrapping adds a warm, sophisticated touch, highlighted by brass accents that exude timeless elegance.
Adnet’s innovative approach to design came into full bloom when he began incorporating leather wrapping into his creations, a technique that has since become synonymous with his work. This piece features its original bayonet socket with a convenient on/off switch, and the shade has been faithfully redone in off-white linen with a red seam, staying true to the original design.
In excellent condition, the lamp boasts a gentle patina on the leather and brass, adding to its character and charm. It accommodates a bayonet bulb of up to 75 watts, with modern LED options also compatible. This iconic floor lamp is a perfect blend of functionality and artistry, making it a coveted addition to any interior space.
This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is also suitable for use in the USA. For US usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it.
