Gorgeous sized writing desk by an unknown manufactured made in Italy, 1950s. This beautiful shaped small desk is made of walnut veneer and has a lovely warm honey coloured wood tone. The walnut wood has a nice grain which is characteristic for the wood. The asymmetrical shape of the desk is very interesting and appealing, it has very clear angles which makes it very characteristic from every angle. The top is finished with a glass top which makes the desk look very classy and it is also functional as the desktop is not so present like this. The 2 level top features a nice space to store some pieces under the top, which are still visible from every angle. On the right you will find 2 drawers where you can ‘hide’ stuff. The handles of the drawers are very nicely sculpted and feel nice in use as well. The desk is finished nicely all around so it doesn’t look out of place in the middle of a room. The brass support between the base and the top is a nice detail of the design. A very nice desk in original condition with a nice patina from several years of usage. Hard to find in this gentle size. A very nice and unknown desk but this has its quality written all over. Wouldn’t surprise me if it would be designed by someone like Franco Albini, Gio Ponti or Paolo Buffa.
