This elegant pair of side tables or night tables, designed by Giuseppe Scapinelli in Brazil, 1950, showcases his masterful ability to blend organic forms with refined craftsmanship. Crafted from solid warm brown Caviúna wood, a light rosewood with distinctive veins, these tables possess a rich natural beauty. Their veneer tops exhibit stunning grain patterns and remain in excellent condition, adding to their visual appeal.
A distinctive feature of these tables is the brass pins, which not only reinforce the structure but also serve as a subtle decorative element. The four organically shaped legs, with their graceful curves and precisely angled bottoms, lend a unique and distinguished character to the design. The overall aesthetic is one of clean, understated elegance, with a richness that speaks to Scapinelli’s keen eye for detail and materiality. Adding to their authenticity, the tables still bear their original transport stamps on the underside. They remain in very good condition, a testament to their quality craftsmanship.
Kindly note that these tables are sold as a set of two.
Giuseppe Scapinelli (1891–1982) was an Italian-born designer, furniture maker, and dealer based in São Paulo, Brazil. His work is characterized by voluptuous forms, generous proportions, and graceful curves, subtly reflecting his Italian heritage. Unlike some of his contemporaries, Scapinelli’s designs faded into obscurity after his passing, only to be rediscovered decades later by collectors and connoisseurs. His furniture, originally sold exclusively in Brazil, remains rarely seen in Europe, making his pieces highly sought after today.
