Super rare drop leave table from the Apta series designed by Gio Ponti and manufactured by Walter Ponti, Italy 1970. This table is made of plywood structure, white painted and the top has a geometrical patteren in light and dark blue. The table is in fantastic original condition with minimal patina from age and usage. Some small and normal marks from age and usage but still fully original. Even the special shaped adjustable feet are still fully original. The table top can swivel so the leaves can drop, very ingenious and simple design, tutto Ponti!
Gio Ponti was one of the most important designers for the modernist movement in Italy. His works were important for the future of the modern design in Italy. Many of his works are in Musea around the world. Ponti was also an important Architect, with numerous famous buildings and interiors designed by his hand. Original and important work like this table is mostly very difficult to get and comes only on the market every now and than.
