Nice and sculptural shaped so called Domus Nova coffee table designed by Gio Ponti and manufactured by Domus Nova for the store ‘la Rinascente’, Italy 1950. This stunning coffee table was made of partly solid and partly veneered walnut wood and has a hardened glass top. The wood has a very nice original colour and the grain of the wood is very beautiful, it makes the table unique in its own way and gives it character. There is a very nice graphic pattern on the lower part of the table, looks like a diamonds shape and this gives the table an extra dimension. Besides the functionality of the lower level this is also for the construction and stability of the table and also contributes to the aesthetics of the design. The table is in very good and fully original condition, the glass is perfect, and the wood has a nice patina from age and usage but still is fully untouched. Very nice shaped and beautiful coffee table by one of Italy’s greatest designers; Gio Ponti.
