This rare and large version of the Gino Sarfatti Model 540 G (G=grande), produced by Arteluce Italy in 1968, is a remarkable lighting fixture that showcases the innovative design sensibilities of its creator. This lamp features a vertically rotating sphere-shaped reflector, crafted from white lacquered aluminum, which allows for adjustable light distribution and precise illumination control. The reflector’s spherical shape not only adds a touch of visual intrigue but also ensures optimal light diffusion.
The lamp’s structure is made from clear methacrylate, a durable and transparent material that complements the reflector’s design while providing stability and support. The combination of the sphere and structure creates a captivating interplay of light and shadow, enhancing the overall ambiance of the space.
Gino Sarfatti, a renowned Italian lighting designer, was known for his ability to merge technical innovation with aesthetic appeal, and the Model 540G shows that combination. The lamp’s rotating functionality allows users to adjust the direction and intensity of the light, making it suitable for various lighting needs and moods.
