The ‘Arabesco’ light panel, designed by Giacomo Benevelli and manufactured by Gaetano Missaglia in 1967, is a monumental piece that merges art and lighting in a masterful way. This large, striking panel features a wooden structural frame, enhancing its presence as a sculptural artwork while offering a functional light source. The front panel, made of white-painted metal, showcases a random pattern of half die-cut circles, an iconic concept that Benevelli employed in various shapes and editions of his wall lamps. The interplay of these semi-cut circles creates a decorative, almost illusion-like effect, evoking the appearance of a field of full and half moons.
Benevelli’s unique approach, marked by the random orientation and partial opening of the circles, gives the panel a dynamic, sculptural quality that captivates from every angle. The abstract, flowing design invites viewers to interpret its form in different ways, making it a true conversation piece in any interior. The four light tubes inside the panel provide an even, atmospheric glow when lit, further enhancing its visual impact.
In fully original condition with a gentle patina that reflects its age, this piece retains its authentic wiring, which has been checked and cleaned. The panel’s ingenious construction allows for easy wall mounting and convenient bulb replacement, as the front panel can be disassembled with ease.
