Very nice and unusual slat chair designed and made by unknown manufacturer, Holland 1950. This chair was for sure inspired by several chairs designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld in de Stijl period. When we bought this chair years ago I thought it was a self made chair, but now few years later we found another exact same chair so it has to be some kind of small production. I think it was a do-it-yourself chair inspired by the works of Gerrit Rietveld. Ofcourse the construction is very similar to the world famous Red Blue chair but this one is designed so everyone could actually fix it. The leather seat is very similar to a metal pipe chair Rietveld designed in 1927. So whoever designed this chair paid close attention to the works from Rietveld. This chair is made of solid beech and has a thick natural leather seat. The chair is in good original condition and seats very comfortable. The chair is not super stable for the best it needs to be newly glued but its better to do this after this was shipped in parts to save on shipping costs, or we can do this up front as you wish. A very nice and lovely chair for a lover of this style, I sure like it a lot!
Leather is reconditioned with a leather care product special for vintage leather.
