Georges van Rijck Shelby lounge chairs Beaufort 1971

Amazing set of 2 so called ‘Shelby’ lounge chairs designed by Georges Van Rijck and manufactured by Beaufort, Belgium 1970. This is for a set of 2 adjustable lounge chairs and a foot stool, made of chocolate brown fiberglass and dark brown leather upholstery. The chairs can swivel and have a tilt function which is still working very smoothly and makes them very comfortable to use. They tilt in different positions as you can see on the last images. The ottoman included provides extra comfort while using these as lounge chairs. Beaufort was a small but quality producer of furniture from the 1950s to the 1980s. These chairs still being in the condition they are now after all these years, proves the quality they made. The set is in fully original and very good condition with a nice gentle patina to the brown leather which adds character to the set. The tufted leather seats still have there puffy form and is still providing enough comfort while seating. The puffy shape doesn’t only contribute to the aesthetics of the design, but also to the comfort of the chairs. The chairs have their original Beaufort aluminium tag on the bottom of the seat.
