Gaetano Sciolari was born in 1927. After earning a degree in architecture, he initially pursued a career in film direction. However, following the unexpected death of his father in 1949, Sciolari returned home to manage the family business, Sciolari Lighting, established in 1892. In the 1950s, he became the in-house designer for the renowned lighting manufacturer Stilnovo, founded by Bruno Gatta in Milan in 1946. During the postwar period, Italian design companies, especially Stilnovo, gained international acclaim for their innovative use of materials and sleek, modern silhouettes. Stilnovo, alongside contemporaries such as Arteluce and Arredoluce, emerged as a leading Italian light manufacturer, celebrated for their exceptional craftsmanship and design excellence.

This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA. For US usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it. Feel free to inquire for available options.
