Iconic set of 6 so called ‘Revolt’ chairs designed by Friso Kramer and manufactured by Ahrend de Cirkel, Holland 1960s. Though the Revolt chair was already designed in 1953, the production started in 1958 and these specific chairs are from the 1960s. The chairs have a folded metal base which is a constructional masterpiece, they are finished with a ciranol seat and back. The chairs are in very nice original condition, the black frame shows a nice industrial look, with paint loss and some surface rust. The beautifully patinated red/salmon colored seats have aged very nicely and make this set unique in its kind. There are no tears or cracks to the seats and backs. This is for a very nice set with smooth seats and backs. Nice matching set of 6 chairs, priced and sold in a set of 6 only.
Even though this chair was designed in 1953, this is still in production at Ahrend. With few modern changes to the materials but the shape is still identical. Friso Kramer was a functionalist, all of his pieces are well thought about and amazingly executed. Even though most of his designs were produced in large numbers the process before that was really intense and time taking. And the result of that was a great production process with fantastic ergonomic result.
We have an extensive collection of furniture and chairs by Friso Kramer, as we are already working with his designs for several years. If you are looking for a specific model or edition, feel free to inquire.
