Friso Kramer Euroika daybed Auping Holland 1963

Very nice daybed designed by Friso Kramer for Auping, Holland 1963. This bed is from the Euroika series designed by Friso Kramer in 1963. The Euroika series had a Bed, bed cabinets, table, chair, mirror and a toilet cabinet. All items of this series are hard to find accept for the chairs, these you see quite regularyl. This bed has a black painted steel frame with spring seat, teak plywood ends and the mattress is newly upholstered in dark blue upholstery.

The designs of Friso Kramer are highly sought after because of their progressive designs. Even though his items were designed several years ago, they still fit in the daily interiors. Friso Kramer was a functionalist, all of his pieces are well thought about and amazingly executed. Even though most of his designs were produced in large numbers the process before that was really intense and time taking. And the result of that was a great production process with fantastic ergonomic result. Friso Kramer is often compared to Jean Prouve. Musea often show the Revolt chair next to the Standard chair by Jean Prouve, not without reason.
