Impressive large sized pair of table lamps designed by Fernand Dresse and made in his own atelier in Belgium in 1970. The lamps are made of resin with stunning bone inlays consisting of rectangles in different sizes. In the resin there’s a wood grain pattern visible. Highly decorative set of lamps with a neutral off white colour. The shades are newly made and are in excellent condition. They are held by a brass structure and can be adjusted in height. On top they are secured by a brass knob. Fernand Dresse is mostly known by his sculptural resin and brass coffee tables, lamps from his hand are more rare.
Fernand Dresse was a Belgian artist born in 1916 in Charleroi and died there in 1993. He was a painter. Trained at the Academy in Mons under Louis Buisseret (1932-1933), student of A. Van Haelen in Brussels. He created landscapes, industrial sites, compositions, portraits, still lifes and excelled especially in his images of birds and flowers, which he managed to depict with the precision of a miniaturist. First prize at Art Jeune in Brussels in 1943. Was a member of the Art Circle in Charleroi. Exhibited at the Galerie d’Art Contemporain in Charleroi in 1955, in the Petite Galerie in Brussels in 1956, at the Premier Salon d’Oeuvres d’Artistes Wallons in the Center for Fine Arts in Brussels in 1941.
These lamps are checked in our own atelier, cleaned and are also suitable for use in the USA. For US usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it.
