Wonderful and impressive sized sculpture by Donald Laborie made in his own atelier in France in 1988. This semi figurative sculpture is called ’The Accordionist” and is made from solid mahogany and has this amazing wam reddish tone with beautiful grain pattern. The accordionist is looking to the right and holds its accordion on the left side. It’s really nicely made in an abstract way and is attractive from all sides. The piece is signed at the base.
Donald Laborie is a French sculptor born in Paris in 1963. Donald is a self taught artist although he comes from a family that is involved in the wold of art, being themselves art lovers and collectors. It was a meeting with a Russian art dealer which gave him the opportunity to travel and to connect with personalities from the world of art.
Donalds’ works can be defined as semi figurative, oscillating between post-cubism and abstraction. In 1996, he finally returned to Paris, where he continued his personal researches on sculpture and he turned towards a more simplified form with a purified approach.
