Fantastic shaped set of 2 club chairs, or bedroom chairs made by unknown designer or manufacturer in Italy 1950s. They’re perfect for your bedroom or any cozy spot. These chairs have a sophisticated frame made of walnut wood which has a beautiful grain. What makes them stand out is their cool and different shape that makes them really interesting to look at. They’re reupholstered in green premium velvet mohair. These chairs are not only super stylish but also great in comfort. We don’t know who exactly designed or made these chairs, but they might remind a bit of Bernini’s work. They are possibly unique chairs made for a specific project by an architect or designer.
The club chair originated from France, and was conceptualised and created around 1929. Initially, it was called “fauteuil comfortable” or the “comfortable chair” as a way of distinguishing it from the “fauteuil de style” of chairs. Characterised by straighter lines, the existing armchairs of the “fauteuil de style” were far less enveloping. While the names of the designers of the comfortable chair has been lost to time, the club chair design exploded in popularity soon after it was introduced to the market. Due to its comfort and functionality, the club chair soon found its way in clubs, and into both casual and upscale restaurants.
