Art deco rationalist sofa made in Italy 1930

Rationalist styled small sofa made in Italy in the 1930s. Beautiful small Art Deco sofa in Rationalist style and minimalist form. This sofa is very minimalistic made and looks very cubistic as well. It has a wooden structure with beautiful walnut burl wooden side panels which were mirrored on the opposite of each other to create a beautiful and interesting pattern on the side view of this sofa. The under rim is made of walnut as well but has a more neutral pattern as the focus is supposed to be on the sides. A very typical feature for the Art Deco era is the black stained rim hat runs next to the upholstery, which creates an abstract form and a nice contrast with the wooden structure and the sofas upholstery. The sofa is upholstered in its original velvet, off white at the front and the back is upholstered in an olive-green tanned velvet. The condition is still very fair, this was recently cleaned and for its age it surely is in outstanding condition, although it is not perfect anymore. The a-symmetrical shape of this sofa is very interesting. From every angle the sofa seems to have a different shape because of that. It would look fantastic free standing in a room as it is finished all around. The sofa is still in very good original condition with minor age related wear to it, but in our opinion this only adds character to the piece.
