From 8 – 12 March 2017 exhibition ‘Essentie’ will take place in the Nicolaïkerk in Utrecht, next to the Central Museum, where at that same time the exhibition Rietvelds meesterwerk: leve de Stijl! is shown.
The word essence (essentie) means core, heart, being. The essence (Latin: essentialist, of esse are) or the essentially philosophical view of the nature of something is what characterizes something. The exhibition Essentie shows more than sixty contemporary artists who make abstract geometric work. Men and women, young and old artists, famous and less famous names from home and abroad.
The exhibition is a tribute to De Stijl and therefor MidMod-Design shows a large selection of furniture designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld (1888 – 1964) who was a dedicated member of De Stijl group and one of the most important architects and designers of his era. All works by Gerrit Rietveld are authentic works, displayed in a museal way, but for sale as well.
